SEASONAL HORTICULTURE WORKERS
Bixter has been providing candidates to the agricultural sector for over 15 years, and our extensive experience with the horticulture sub-sector allowed us to acquire an in-depth understanding of employer’s needs for workers. We prioritize matching most suitable candidates with employer’s recruitment criteria. This means pre-screening the candidates, and selecting only the best suited matches.
According to the Chartered Institute of Horticulture the business, production and food in the UK horticulture industry is worth over £5bn each year, while employing over 50,000 people. Since the UK’s exit from the European Union, the government has established a goal to become a more high-skilled economy. In the past, the UK’s horticulture sector heavily relied on seasonal EU workforce, but since the immigration process has been restructured for EU workers, Bixter’s offer of providing educated non-EU seasonal workers can be one of the best employment solutions for employers within the sector.
Dairy farmers, pig farmers, and other farmers
The employer is required to obtain a sponsorship license to hire employees from non-EU countries. The license will be valid for 4 years and enables theemployer to issue certificates of sponsorship (CoS) for foreign workers that would be hired by him/her. Each CoS can be assigned to one worker for the whole season. The processing fees paid to the UKVI vary based on the size of the sponsor’s company: an employer can either be categorized as a small sponsor or large one. If at least 2 of the following criteria apply, the sponsor will be considered small:
- £10.2 million or less in annual turnoveк
- £5.1 million or less worth of total assets
- 50 or fewer employees
During the 6-month seasonal work contract, Bixter candidates are educated and qualified to perform a range of responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Sorting and packing of different types of vegetables, flowers and plants
- Watering
- Planting
- Stickling
- Weeding
- Picking
- Sorting
- etc.
We cooperate with 27 partnering world countries to insure the highest quality of education and qualifications for a candidate’s successful employment. As Non-EU workers require visas, it can take 2,5 – 3 months overall for candidates to start their work.
