Bixter’s mission is to help you find better work which will match with your skills, experience and expectations and to allow the world’s professionals to be more productive and successful. Central to this mission is our commitment to be transparent about the data we collect about you, how it is used and with whom it is shared.

This Privacy and Cookie Policy applies when you use our Services (described below). We offer our users choices about the data we collect, use and share as described in this Privacy and Cookie Policy.

Services

This Privacy and Cookie Policy applies to http://bixter.work and other Bixter-related sites and apps.

Purpose

This section illustrates Bixter’s commitments with regard to the protection of the privacy and personal data of its members, users or visitors (hereinafter referred to together as the “Users”), collected and processed during the use of our Services under the conditions set out in the Terms of Use and Sale of the Services (hereinafter the “Data”).

Bixter undertakes to comply with the applicable legislation relating to the protection of privacy, in particular the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council of 27 April 2016 relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter referred to as the “Applicable Regulation”).

Identity of the Data Controller

The Data controller is the company Bixter Holding LLD.

The Data are notably stored at https://www.hetzner.com/ (Germany).

As a Visitor, User or Member of our Services, the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data is subject to this Privacy Policy and updates.

Change

Bixter can modify this Privacy and Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes to this Policy apply to use of our Services after the “effective date”.

In case we make any changes to this Policy, we will inform you in advance to provide you with the opportunity to review the changes. If you object to any changes, you may delete your account.

You acknowledge that your continued use of our Services after we publish or send a notice about our changes to this Policy means that the collection, use and sharing of your personal data is subject to the updated Privacy and Cookie Policy.

Data Collected

In order to provide its Services, Bixter may collect Data relating to the Users, Members, and Visitors.

6.1 Data provided directly by you

During the registration and use of our Services, the User provides Data to Bixter. These Data include in particular:

  • Data necessary to fill out a form or submit a resume — such as your name and age, contact details, password, information about your education, knowledge of languages, and work experience.
  • If you register for a Premium Service, you will need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information.

It’s your choice whether to include Sensitive Data such as a photo on your resume. Please do not add Sensitive Data to your resume in case you do not want to make such data available.

The User is informed in the Data collection forms of the mandatory or optional nature of the collection of the said Data. In the event that a mandatory field is not filled out, Bixter will not be able to process the registration and to ensure the provision of the Services.

6.2 Data collected automatically by Bixter

During the use of the Services, Bixter collects Data relating to the connection, browsing, interaction with advertisements, and the use of the Services. This includes:

  • The ID or unique device identifiers (including mobile devices), and the characteristics of the devices and software used for connection.
  • Connection type (3G, 4G, LTE, Wifi, offline), internet service provider, statistics on pages displayed, and IP address (indicating country and city of connection).
  • The level of activity or inactivity on the Services.
  • Data collected via cookies and other trackers (see section 16, “Cookies and other trackers”).

6.3 Data collected from other sources

We receive data about you when you use some of the other services provided by us or our affiliates.

“Public” or “Private” Accounts

Certain Data from the User profile may be visible on the Site and Application. Each User has the ability to manage the level of privacy of their account by choosing to render it “private” in the Account settings.

By default, the User’s profile is “public”, which means that certain Data are visible to all users or visitors of the Site and Application.

Purpose of Processing

Bixter gathers, collects, and stores the Data as set out above for the following purposes:

  • Supply of the Services and ensuring their proper functioning.
  • Keeping you informed about news, events and ideas regarding professional topics you care about.
  • Helping you improve your professional skills and explore career opportunities.
  • Allowing your profile to be found by those looking to hire (for a job or a specific task).
  • Recommending jobs or mentees using your data, including via automated profiling systems.
  • Handling invoicing and payment operations.
  • Carrying out customer satisfaction surveys and statistical/segmentation analysis to improve the Services.
  • Ensuring the security of the Site, Application and Services.

Recipients of the Data

The Data collected or processed during the use of the Services are sent to Bixter entities and authorized personnel, as well as:

  • Service providers — to ensure the supply of the Services, including payment methods.
  • Technical sub-contractors — who may, on behalf of Bixter, host and store Data and ensure security of the technical infrastructure.
  • Partners — such as telecommunications operators and marketing partners, as well as social networks for the promotion of the Services.
  • Social networks — where the User has expressly consented to linking their User account with a social network account.
  • Third-party applications — accessible from the Site or Application, where the User has given prior express consent.
  • Administrative or judicial authorities — in the context of requisition or legal obligation.

Cross-border Data Transfers

In the context of processing the Data, the latter may be transferred by Bixter to its affiliates, including to a country other than the User’s country of residence and outside the European Union. All transfers are made in accordance with the Applicable Regulation.

Prior to transferring Data to service providers or partners located outside the EU, Bixter shall obtain the necessary guarantees for the security of such transfers, such as contractual clauses, in countries that do not have an adequate level of protection.

Rights to Access and Control Your Personal Data

For personal data that we have about you, you have the following rights:

  • Delete Data — you can ask us to erase or delete all or some of your personal data.
  • Change or Correct Data — you can edit some of your personal data through your account, or ask us to update or fix inaccurate data.
  • Object to, or Limit or Restrict, Use of Data — you can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data, or to limit our use of it.
  • Right to Access and/or Take Your Data — you can ask for a copy of your personal data in machine-readable form.

The User is informed that the exercise of certain rights, in particular objection and deletion, may restrict or prevent access to and/or use of the Services.

Data Security

In accordance with the Applicable Regulation, Bixter shall take all necessary measures to process the Data in a secure and confidential manner, implementing technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risks and nature of the Data.

Bixter may not, however, guarantee the confidentiality of Data rendered public by the User.

The Services may include links to third-party websites. Bixter cannot be held liable for the personal data collection and processing practices of these websites, which are governed by their own privacy policies.

Duration of Retention of the Data

Bixter undertakes not to keep the Data beyond the period strictly necessary for the purposes envisaged and in accordance with the Applicable Regulation. At the end of retention periods, Data may be subject to intermediary storing in order to satisfy legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

Minors

We respect the privacy of children and encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in managing their children’s online activities. If you are under 16, please make sure you have consent from your parent and/or guardian before using the Services. Some of our Services are not available for children under 16 years old, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in connection with those Services.
