SIRI Introduces Enhanced Controls

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has announced that it will carry out enhanced controls of international trainees participating in Denmark’s green sector internship program over approximately the next 15 months. Unlike previous years, where inspections primarily focused on selected cases, the new initiative will cover all active trainees. (Arbejdsgiverforeningen GLS-A)

The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that the conditions attached to residence permits are being respected and that trainees receive the terms and conditions required under the internship scheme. (Arbejdsgiverforeningen GLS-A)

What Documentation May Be Required?

As part of the enhanced controls, trainees will receive a message through Denmark’s official digital mailbox (e-Boks) requesting documentation related to their internship.

The requested documentation may include:

  • Payslips
  • Working time records
  • Documentation of accrued and used special holiday days

According to SIRI, it is the trainee’s responsibility to submit the requested documentation within the required timeframe. (Arbejdsgiverforeningen GLS-A)

Why Is This Important?

If SIRI concludes that the conditions of the residence permit have not been met, or if the requested documentation is not submitted, the consequences may be significant.

Depending on the circumstances, SIRI may:

  • Withdraw the residence permit
  • Refer the case for further legal action
  • Take action affecting both the trainee and the farmers

For this reason, it is essential that any request from SIRI is taken seriously and answered on time with complete documentation. (Arbejdsgiverforeningen GLS-A)

What Should Trainees Do?

If you are currently completing a green sector internship in Denmark, you should:

  • Regularly check your e-Boks for new messages from SIRI.
  • Keep copies of your payslips and employment-related documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of your working hours if required by your farmers.
  • Contact your coordinator immediately if you receive a request that you do not understand.

Responding quickly helps prevent unnecessary delays or complications during the review process.

How Bixter Supports You

At Bixter, we continuously monitor the residence permit applications and internship processes that we manage.

If one of our trainees receives a request from SIRI, our team is ready to explain what the request means, identify the required documentation, and guide the trainee and farmers throughout the process. Our goal is to help ensure that all information is submitted correctly and within the required deadlines.

We also work closely with farmers to help them understand the new control procedures and prepare the necessary documentation if requested.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of enhanced controls reflects SIRI’s increased focus on ensuring that the internship scheme continues to operate according to Danish regulations.

For trainees and farmers who follow the rules and maintain proper documentation, the new process should simply become another administrative step in the internship journey.

Bixter will continue to monitor updates from the Danish authorities and share important information as new guidance becomes available.
