FAQ

  • Candidates who are currently pursuing education, with a Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant production, crop science, etc. in their home countries
  • Young and motivated candidates. interns invest into their visa and travel tickets in order to gain on-job training in Denmark. They value the opportunity to get this experience for further career development in home country or abroad
  • Candidates with a solid knowledge of planting and sowing, irrigation and fertilization, harvesting and pruning, plant maintenance, greenhouse management, etc.
  • Candidates who are fit and able to perform manual labor for hours.
  • Stable candidates. As people from Non-EU countries need work and residence permits in Denmark, their visa is attached to one specific workplace, and the intern is stable for up to 1,5 year. Considering the instability of the workforce in the Agriculture sector, accepting non-EU interns is a great solution.
  • Affordable, due to fixed allowance minimum.
  • Bixter’s customer support for the whole period of contract with interns.

Bixter acts on a legal basis in its recruitment activities by connecting employers in need of well educated, motivated, affordable and stable workers with young English/German speaking professionals from 27 countries worldwide, who completed relevant education on minimum Bachelor’s degree level and are very willing to gain on-job training in Denmark.

Notion of “intern” comprises the profile of the person in the age range 20-30 y.o., with a currently ongoing Bachelor’s degree in the specialization, related to the “internship place”.

Many may confuse “International intern” with an average employee or university intern, but in fact it requires a deeper look from the side of Migration service requirements, as well as benefits for the Employer willing to accept international interns.

The Danish Migration Service has developed a visa category for Non-EU nationals as work and residence permit, under the category of “Internship”. These regulations allow currently enrolled students from Non-EU countries to receive further in-company training in Denmark with a duration of 1,5 year.

This option is intended for professionals with ongoing university degrees, sufficient English/German level (proved by IELTS, KET, TOEFL, GOETHE tests) to gain further on-hand experience in their field of expertise.

Hereby, Bixter promotes this opportunity with the help of international agents and ocular visits to the top-selected universities in Non-EU countries and encourages students to participate.

It is important to note that the average waiting period for the arrival of interns is typically around 2-3 months. This is primarily due to the mandatory visa processing time.

As a result, it is crucial for companies to plan ahead and account for this waiting period when organizing their recruitment process. By taking a pragmatic approach and considering the necessary visa processing time, companies can ensure that they are able to receive qualified interns in a timely manner, while also adhering to all relevant regulations and procedures.

Interns typically work 37 hours per week, according to industry standards. An intern might occasionally take overtimes, for ex.during the harvest. Please note that long or frequent overtimes for interns will not be in conformity with the requirements of their work and  residence permit, as the normal workweek in these circumstances is not 37 hours.

In order to host Non-EU interns, adequate living conditions need to be provided by employers for a monthly rent. The rent needs to be affordable for the interns, as they will be paying it from their monthly allowance.

Here is a list of requirements that need to be fulfilled:

  • Single room (in rare cases interns can be placed together in one room)
  • Furnished room with a sleeping bed, closet, chair, table, appropriate lighting
  • Toilet and shower facilities
  • Access to cooking facilities and a fridge
  • Access to washing machine
  • The living facilities should respect the safety regulations
  • The accommodation should be located close to the internship place(in case no car is provided)
